Cast Announcement: THE FEVER AND THE FRET

With THE FEVER AND THE FRET play reading just around the corner, we are very excited to announce the cast of this moving story from Nyul Nyul/Yawuru playwright Jub Clerc.

Directed by Ursula Yovich (Belvoir’s BARBARA AND THE CAMP DOGS and STC’s THE SECRET RIVER), say hello to our fantastic cast:

Frederick Copperwaite as Ignatius

Frederick is a Bunuba man from the South-West Kimberley in Western Australia and graduate of Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. His most recent appearance was in THE GODS OF WHEAT STREET for ABCTV and is also a co-founder and co-artistic director of Moogahlin Performing Arts, . He has worked extensively with young Aboriginal people and the communtity in urban and regional NSW, The Kimberley and East Arnhem Land and at schools all over Australia and Europe.

Marlene Cummins as Ruby

Born in the southwest town of Cunnamulla, Marlene is Australia’s foremost Indigenous female blues writer and performer. Her strongest musical influence comes from her father who was also a musician with his own band called ‘The Ravens’.  Just like her father, Marlene likes to use music as a medium to make the world a better place to live in.

Sharni McDermott as Lizzy

Sharni graduated from The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in 2010 with an Advanced Diploma in acting. Her credits include PARRAMATTA GIRLS, THE MAIDS, STOLEN, THE ROCK, SOUL MUSIC, MIRACLES IN BRISBANE and EQUUS. In 2013, Sharni received the Artstart grant through the Australian Council and travelled to London to attend a summer course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Followed by a 30 minute Q&A with the playwright, director and actors, join us at Boatshed Development Sat 17 Nov 12.30pm for this powerful tale of strength and resilience.
