Andrew Hansen
Andrew Hansen is best known as a member of Australian comedy group THE CHASER, whose hit TV shows include THE CHASER’S WAR ON EVERYTHING, THE HAMSTER WHEEL, YES WE CANBERRA!, THE CHASER DECIDES and CNNNN. On stage, Andrew is a regular on Australia’s comedy touring circuit. At The Ensemble, he co-starred with Chris Taylor in NEVILLE’S ISLAND (2017). Andrew and his wife Jessica Roberts are the authors of spooky and humorous children’s books including STUCK IN A HANDSTAND!, BAB SHARKEY and the ANIMAL MUMMIES, and the newly released MY KNEES HAVE EYES. Andrew has won two Logies (Most Outstanding Comedy) and an AACTA Award (Best Performance in Television Comedy). His album THE BLOW PARADE, made with Chris Taylor and Craig Schuftan, won an ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release.
Mark Humphries
Mark Humphries is best known for his viral political sketches on ABC’s 7.30 and SBS’ THE FEED. On Network Ten, he was the host of the quiz show POINTLESS and on Channel Seven he presented THE 6:57PM NEWS. In 2025, he began hosting ABC radio’s national Saturday Evenings program and has also presented ABC Sydney’s Afternoons, Evenings and Saturday Breakfast programs. Mark co-wrote and hosted the housing crisis documentary SOLD! for Binge in 2025 and co-wrote and presented Radio National’s documentary podcasts SKASE: FALL OF A TYCOON and BONDY: FROM HERO TO ZERO. Mark’s writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Sun-Herald and The Saturday Paper and he has co-written two books: THE CHASER’S AUSTRALIA and ON POLITICS AND STUFF. Mark is the Public Transport Correspondent on ABC Sydney’s Breakfast program and, yes, that is a real job. He also won Celebrity Mastermind but never likes to bring it up.
Chris Taylor
Chris Taylor is a writer, performer and broadcaster who’s best known as a member of The Chaser team, responsible for ABC comedy shows such as CNNNN and THE CHASER’S WAR ON EVERYTHING, as well as numerous tv election specials. He co-hosted the drive show TODAY TODAY on Triple J, and also won a Best Comedy ARIA for THE BLOW PARADE, a radio mockumentary series he made with regular collaborator Andrew Hansen. The pair also wrote the hit musical comedy DEAD CAESAR for the Sydney Theatre Company. For the Ensemble Theatre, Chris has appeared in the David Williamson play JACK OF HEARTS (2016) and NEVILLE’S ISLAND (2017). In 2019, Chris was the creator, co-writer and producer of the AACTA Award-winning television drama UPRIGHT for Foxtel and Sky Atlantic. In 2023, he and Hansen teamed up again to write and produce the musical comedy series AUSTRALIAN EPIC for ABC. Chris is a regular broadcaster on ABC local radio, and is currently developing a musical for the Bell Shakespeare Company.
Christie Whelan Browne
Christie Whelan Browne is one of Australia’s most versatile stage and screen performers – “a musical and cabaret talent not to be missed”. Christie was most recently seen on screen in COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS and ABC kids series KNEE HIGH SPIES. Her television credits include SPREADSHEET, MUSTANGS FC, NEIGHBOURS, THE WRONG GIRL, MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES, OFFSPRING and across seasons 10 – 15 of SHAUN MICALLEF’S MAD AS HELL. Christie also featured in popular mini-series PETER ALLEN – NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR as Olivia Newton-John. Christie has been delivering award-winning performances and delighting audiences since her iconic debut in GREASE – THE ARENA SPECTACULAR. Her indelible performances include roles in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. As a mainstay of Melbourne Theatre Company, Christie has performed in several productions including LOSING FACE, AS YOU LIKE IT, TWELFTH NIGHT, AN IDEAL HUSBAND and BORN YESTERDAY. In musical theatre, Christie has shown her triple-threat bona fides in many canonical works for all the major producers in Australia including defining roles in XANADU, MURIEL’S WEDDING THE MUSICAL and her award-winning turn in COMPANY. Christie is the star of four one-woman cabarets all of which debuted at The Adelaide Cabaret Festival and toured to great acclaim. In 2025 Christie stole her scenes as the antagonist in the Melbourne Theatre Company production of Australian musical BLOOM for Sydney Theatre Company and followed this as a co-star in the Australian Premiere of the Tony Award Winning Musical KIMBERLY AKIMBO for STC SA and MTC. On stage she was most recently seen in LOSING FACE for MTC.

THE YEAR IN TATTERS
When one writes for the theatre, one must be prepared to struggle.
Our 2025 edition of this theatrical work had to be abandoned after director Mark Kilmurry alerted us to the fact that the words ‘revue’ and ‘review’ are not one and the same. Five Acts of delicious kitchen sink drama about the pros and cons of the Bosch Series 4 dishwasher gone, just like that.
This year, we’ve faced a fresh struggle in our attempt to cast a satirical eye over the highs and lows of 2026 …
How will we satirise November and December, if they appear not to have occurred yet?
Sadly one of our writers, Andrew Bovell, was driven mad by the impossibility of the task and fled to a Greek island to convalesce.
But those of us who stayed on have produced a theatrical work that we are proud to say is, indeed, 80 minutes in length.

Given the current state of the world, far and wide, there’s never been a better time to take a wry look at ourselves through the lens of satire and mock all our imperfections with a proper, downright bloody piss-take. For me, comedy can expose more truth than the news bulletins, throwing up the hidden absurdities on the politic and social stage. I am thrilled we have masters of satire for THE YEAR IN TATTERS with the brilliance of Andrew Hansen, Mark Humphries, Chris Taylor & Christie Whelan Browne and a whole slew of hilarious characters. I know you’re in for a wild and very funny night in the theatre. Forget all your troubles, or rather remember them, but see them for what they really are. Enjoy!
